![]() ![]() I think that's where I separate my book cannon from game cannon. Triss seems more like a fling compared to the twenty-odd years worth of relationship with Yen and that's why I think she's the right choice in my story. It's funny because I was pro-Triss for pretty much the first two games but reading some of the books before Witcher 3 came out, I had more of an understanding of who Yen is and how much she means to Geralt than I did with Triss. ![]() PS - I still haven't beaten the game yet, so no spoilers for end game stuff would be much appreciated. But the fact that me, as the player, has personally seen Geralt and Triss together longer and how their relationship has evolved over three games made me stick with Triss. I guess it makes sense, because Yen was a part of Geralt's life for a lot longer than Triss, and it's obvious that Geralt has a longer and deeper history with Yen. It also seemed like the writing really pushed it for Geralt to have the "canon" romance choice of Yennefer. I think the reason this is irritating me so much is because the Witcher games have been so good at providing comprehensive choices that account for every situation, and this is the first time that I feel like what I wanted Geralt to say hasn't been there, and it was for one of the most important characters/relationships in the game. It just seems like a weak-ass excuse for a game that does a really exceptional job at explaining and providing character motivations. I just wish there was another choice with something like "Sorry Yen, but there's another." or something like that. It's obvious that isn't the case because Yen still has feelings for him. The genie's magic isn't what made Geralt stop loving Yennefer. But the way that Geralt rejects Yen through the excuse of genie's "magic" being gone really bugged me. ![]() ![]() I decided to go with Triss, and I knew I had to reject Yen. I've heard that to obtain a good ending that doesn't involve Geralt forever alone, I had to choose either Yen or Triss, and then reject the other. I really, REALLY don't like how they treated the rejection of Yennefer if you chose to romance Triss. ![]()
